FileAudit is a software that makes it possible to use the Windows NT/2000 file and directory audit function. No longer is it necessary to laboriously decipher thousands of lines of event logs. As an integrated part of Windows NT/2000 Explorer, FileAudit displays a sorted list of all access or access attempts for either one file, several files or several directories. FileAudit’s user-friendly interface allows you to immediately identify the type of access (reading, modification, deletion), the user attempting access, the date and time.

Here are some key features of "FileAudit":
· Lists access to files.
· Displays access to files in one directory and in all sub-directories.
· Exports data concerning access in ASCII (file ascii unlimited).
· Uses only standard NT APIs.
· Manages the selection of multiple files.
· Clearly displays icons indicating access read, written, as well as requests for taking ownership and for changing access rights, either accepted or refused.
· Displays in details the audit events generated by NT.
· Does not require server or workstation agents.
· Conducts a search for the name of the workstation, as well as the time and date of the users connection and disconnection, and if available, the log
· Integrated into Windows NT, FileAudit is directly accessible by clicking on the context menu for files and directories
· Displays a bulletin board sorted by user name, name of the domain, date of access, type of access, and if requests were successful or denied.


What's New in This Release:

· Fixed: FileAudit should now work for all kind of clusters or SAN disks
· Fixed: The event description was not correctly displayed on Windows 2003 servers
· Removed: The "From/Where" button because this feature doesn't work anymore on Windows 2000/2003 servers.
· Fixed: The FileAudit window was displayed in other cases that clicking FileAudit on the context menu. For example while opening a start menu folder.
